According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through April 12, 2018 were 23.0 million metric tons (MMT), 17 percent behind last year's year-to-date total of 27.6 MMT.
Net sales reductions of 66,900 metric tons for delivery in marketing year 2017/2018—a marketing year low—were down noticeably from the previous week and the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 100,000 to 350,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (1,441 HRW, 4,526 HRS, 42,346 white), Chile (33,000 white), Venezuela (30,000 HRW), Colombia (7,564 SRW), and Peru (7,350 SRW).
Net sales of 240,400 MT were reported for delivery in marketing year 2018/19. Sales were above trade expectations of 0 to 200,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (55,000 HRS, 10,000 white), Indonesia (50,000 white), Thailand (21,500 HRW, -7,000 HRS, 25,000 white), and Japan (36,210 white).
USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.2 MMT.
