According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through November 3, 2016 were 17.1 million metric tons (MMT), 31 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 13.1 MMT.

Net sales of 769,600 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were up noticeably from the previous week, and 63 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Sales were well above trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for China (60,000 HRW), Thailand (17,000 HRW, 25,000 HRS, 13,000 white), the Philippines (27,000 HRS, 11,000 white), South Korea (4,180 HRW, 15,680 HRS, 15,340 white), Italy (12,450 HRS, 20,000 durum), and Japan (1,092 HRW, 25,856 HRS, 2,170 white).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 65 percent of total projected exports, in line with the 5-year average.
