According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through March 31, 2016 were 19.2 million metric tons (MMT), 17 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 23.2 MMT.

Net reductions of 58,100 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16–a marketing year low–were down noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Sales were well below trade expectations of 150,000 to 350,000 MT and included significant quantities switched to 2016/17. Increases were primarily for Taiwan (13,388 HRW, 27,353 HRS, 10,028 white), Malaysia (20,000 HRS, 4,500 white), Mexico (-10,778 HRW, 29,008 HRS, 4,188 SRW), the Dominican Republic (5,000 HRW, 4,000 HRS, 5,500 SRW), China (13,250 HRS), and Nigeria (2,215 SRW, -135 white, 8,671 durum).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.1 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 92 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 100 percent.
