According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through August 25, 2016 were 11.8 million metric tons (MMT), 18 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 10.1 MMT.

Net sales of 279,400 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were down 26 percent from the previous week, and 38 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. Sales were below trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (186,471 HRW), the Philippines (-7,000 HRW, 63,370 HRS, 47,065 white), South Korea (12,130 HRW, 19,450 HRS, 36,420 white), China (53,701 HRS), and Nigeria (22,583 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 46 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 48 percent.
