According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through July 4, 2013 were 10.6 million metric tons (MMT), 43 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 7.45 MMT.
Net sales of 1,473,300 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were well above trade expectations of 650,000 to 900,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the China (1,023,748 SRW), Brazil (179,276 HRW), Mexico (23,500 HRW, 2,536 HRS, 32,702 SRW), Indonesia (57,750 white), and Peru (42,500 HRW, 14,000 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 40 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 28 percent of exports committed by this date.
