According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through January 2, 2014 were 24.6 million metric tons (MMT), 27 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 19.3 MMT.

Net sales of 110,800 MT--a marketing-year low--for delivery during the 2013/2014 marketing year were down 55 percent from the previous week and 76 percent from the prior 4-week average and below trade expectations of 200,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Philippines (45,129 HRS, 17,084 white), Italy (120 HRS, 31,388 durum), Brazil (30,000 HRW), Japan (20,648 HRW, 476 HRS, 568 white), Mexico (10,925 HRW, 425 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 82 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 77 percent of exports committed by this date.
