According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2014/15 marketing year, through December 11, 2014 were 17.9 million metric tons (MMT), 24 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 23.6 MMT.

Net sales of 476,300 metric tons for delivery in the 2014/2015 marketing year were up 8 percent from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior 4-week average and exceeded trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (18,633 HRW, 24,326 HRS, 69,305 white), Mexico (22,095 HRW, 17,134 HRS, 45,314 SRW), Nigeria (40,000 HRW, 22,000 HRS), Italy (348 HRS, 46,228 durum), South Korea (9,570 HRW, 16,230 HRS, 1,160 white), and Venezuela (20,000 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2014/15 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 71 percent of total projected exports, below the five-year average of 72 percent of exports committed by this date.
