According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2009/10 marketing year, through March 4, 2010 were 19.981 million metric tons (MMT), 19 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 24.641 MMT.

Net sales of 407,900 metric tons for delivery in 2009/10 were up noticeably from the previous week (301 percent ) and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade estimates of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were reported for Nigeria (89,661 HRW, 4,999 HRS, 29,999 SRW, 13,000 white, -6,746 durum), Japan (25,750 HRW, 12,360 HRS, 8,240 white), Venezuela (12,100 HRW, 17,100 HRS, 10,000 SRW, 6,000 durum), Taiwan (17,750 HRW, 23,289 HRS), and Mexico (20,433 HRW, 6,222 HRS, 7,002 SRW). Net sales of 40,500 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for unknown destinations (5,000 HRS, 15,000 white), Philippines (16,000 white), and Japan (2,000 HRW, 2,000 HRS, 450 durum).

USDA forecasts 2009/10 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 22.45 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 91 percent of total projected exports, down from the 5-year average of 94 percent of exports committed by this date.
