According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2014/15 marketing year, through September 11, 2014 were 12.4 million metric tons (MMT), 27 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 17.1 MMT.

Net sales of 314,500 metric tons for delivery in the 2014/2015 marketing year were down 54 percent from the previous week and 15 percent from the prior 4-week average and below trade expectations of 450,000 to 650,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (28,011 HRW, 90,750 HRS, 610 white), Venezuela (30,000 HRS, -805 durum), Algeria (20,000 durum), Mexico (-11,000 HRW, 15,772 HRS, 15,188 SRW), Italy (7,631 HRS, 9,603 durum), and Nigeria (14,751 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 24.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 51 percent of total projected exports, above the five-year average of 49 percent of exports committed by this date.
