According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through March 9, 2017 were 25.4 million metric tons (MMT), 37 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 18.6 MMT and 7 percent ahead of the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 264,400 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were down 33 percent from the previous week and 33 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Mexico (92,349 HRW, 26,181 SRW), China (103,000 HRS), Indonesia (74,370 HRS), and Cameroon (33,000 HRS, 4,000 durum).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 92 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 95 percent.
