According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2009/10 marketing year, through May 20, 2010 were 22.666 million metric tons (MMT), 15 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 26.543 MMT.

Net sales of 148,800 metric tons for delivery in 2009/10 were down 41 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Nigeria (59,677 HRW, -4,610 SRW), Venezuela (35,500 HRW, 10,000 SRW), Chile (33,907 HRW, 8,000 HRS), Guatemala (17,098 HRW, 5,610 HRS, 5,430 white, 2,437 durum), and Brazil (2,465 HRW, 23,000 SRW). Net sales of 336,700 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were mainly for South Korea (28,800 HRW, 21,600 HRS, 41,800 white), Japan (14,180 HRW, 51,420 HRS, 20,000 white), Malaysia (21,000 HRW, 15,000 HRS, 10,000 white), and Mexico (30,000 HRW, 1,000 HRS, 14,000 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2009/10 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 23.54 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 97 percent of total projected exports, down from the 5-year average of 104 percent of exports committed by this date.
