According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through April 14, 2016 were 19.6 million metric tons (MMT), 17 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 23.7 MMT.

Net sales of 295,100 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were up noticeably from the previous week, and 57 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 0 to 300,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (39,171 HRW, 36,010 HRS, 22,776 white), Indonesia (65,000 HRW), the Philippines (450 HRW, 36,300 HRS, 19,983 white), Taiwan (18,952 HRW, 18,528 HRS, 17,520 white), Chile (28,000 HRW, 22,000 white), and Italy (3,712 HRS, 33,250 durum).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.1 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 94 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 102 percent.
