According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through June 1, 2017 were 6.61 million metric tons (MMT), 15 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 5.76 MMT and 10 percent ahead of the 5-year average pace.

Net sales for the 2017/18 marketing year, which began June 1, totaled 461,000 metric tons (MT). A total of 1,883,400 MT in sales were carried over from the 2016/17 marketing year, which ended May 31. Sales were within trade expectations of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Unknown destinations (70,785 HRW, 43,100 HRS, -176 SRW, -11,500 white, 45,000 durum), Peru (72,480 HRW, 6,027 SRW), Mexico (75,743 HRW, -11,275 HRS, 69 SRW), Italy (47,317 HRS), Japan (35,420 HRS), and Yemen (28,301 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 23 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 24 percent.
