According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through July 6, 2017 were 8.75 million metric tons (MMT), in line with last year's year-to-date total of 8.78 MMT and 1 percent ahead of the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 357,700 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18. Sales were within trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Japan (18,965 HRW, 34,758 HRS, 57,937 white), the Philippines (5,000 HRW, 23,350 HRS, 30,795 white), Malaysia (39,000 HRS, 17,000 white), Nigeria (11,158 HRW, 12,380 HRS, 26,399 SRW), Mexico (14,057 HRW, 183 HRS, 16,903 SRW), and Venezuela (30,000 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 33 percent of total projected exports, on par with the 5-year average.
