According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through June 15, 2017 were 7.52 million metric tons (MMT), 8 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 6.99 MMT and 7 percent ahead of the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 542,900 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18. Sales were above trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (65,685 HRW, 70,982 HRS, 59,851 white), Taiwan (27,135 HRW, 55,980 HRS, 11,774 white), the Philippines (35,557 HRS, 45,481 white), Algeria (59,462 HRW), and Thailand (5,500 HRW, 24,000 HRS, 16,000 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 27.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 28 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 27 percent.
