According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through September 29, 2016 were 14.4 million metric tons (MMT), 27 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 11.4 MMT.

Net sales of 377,000 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were down 34 percent from the previous week, and 31 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. Sales were below trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (59,000 HRS, 44,991 white), Japan (27,342 HRW, 28,355 HRS, 42,141 white), Thailand (4,700 HRW, 63,500 HRS, 7,241 white), Brazil (62,721 HRW), Canada (49,986 HRS), and Kenya (44,000 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 56 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 57 percent.
