According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through September 21, 2017 were 13.5 million metric tons (MMT), 4 percent behind both last year's year-to-date total and the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 435,600 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, up 42 percent from the previous week and 14 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (52,000 HRS, 42,500 white), Dominican Republic (24,648 HRW, 18,225 HRS, 18,088 SRW), Japan (14,345 HRW, 7,232 HRS, 38,832 white), Taiwan (18,215 HRW, 29,900 HRS, 6,008 white), and Bangladesh (47,345 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 51 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 55 percent.
