According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through June 13, 2013 were 7.84 million metric tons (MMT), 23 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 6.39 MMT.
Net sales of 432,700 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were within trade expectations of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (9,500 HRW, 31,250 HRS, 79,850 white), China (20,000 HRW, 57,750 HRS, 8,000 SRW, 5,000 white), Japan (30,467 HRW, 40,831 HRS, 671 white), Brazil (42,501 HRW, 4,803 SRW), Indonesia (27,000 HRS, 13,000 white), and Nigeria (27,500 HRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 30 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 23 percent of exports committed by this date.
