According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through August 11, 2016 were 11.2 million metric tons (MMT), 21 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 9.26 MMT.

Net sales of 489,500 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were down 19 percent from the previous week, but 2 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (92,050 HRW), Taiwan (27,914 HRW, 23,826 HRS, 13,870 white), Mexico (34,933 HRW, 20,912 SRW), and the Philippines (24,500 HRS, 27,900 white).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 44 percent of total projected exports, and in line with the 5-year average.
