According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through August 20, 2015 were 9.79 million metric tons (MMT), 13 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 11.3 MMT.

Net sales of 529,100 metric tons for delivery in marketing year 2015/2016 were up 68 percent from the previous week, but down 7 percent from the prior 4-week average and above trade expectations of 225,000 to 400,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Nigeria (103,000 HRW, -7,494 SRW), Japan (30,173 HRW, 25,870 HRS, 27,295 white, 2 durum), South Korea (9,400 HRW, 21,450 HRS, 44,200 white), The Philippines (1,050 HRW, 39,200 HRS, 19,750 white), Panama (7,000 HRW, 17,800 HRS, 13,400 SRW, 4,500 durum), Italy (1,346 HRS, 39,250 durum), and Chile (27,677 HRW, 300 HRS, 11,500 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 39 percent of total projected exports, below the 5-year average of 45 percent.
