According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through April 21, 2016 were 20.0 million metric tons (MMT), 14 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 23.2 MMT.

Net sales of 351,900 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were up 19 percent from the previous week, and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average. Sales were well above trade expectations of 75,000 to 175,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Mexico (89,949 HRW, 28,829 SRW), Taiwan (15,330 HRW, 28,035 HRS), Japan (17,521 HRW, 1,038 HRS, 18,629 white), Colombia (5,500 HRW, 16,406 SRW, 11,022 white), Canada (27,799 HRS, -9 white), Brazil (15,750 HRW, 5,499 SRW), and Vietnam (89 HRW, 10,080 HRS, 5,807 white).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.1 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 95 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 102 percent.
