According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through June 16, 2011 were 7.755 million metric tons (MMT), 32 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 5.853 MMT.
Net sales of 661,300 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year exceeded trade estimates of 350,000 to 650,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (34,102 HRW, 87,783 HRS, 45,745 white), Nigeria (127,401 HRW, -1 SRW), Peru (95,275 HRW, 1,951 SRW), South Korea (13,200 HRW, 24,400 HRS, 35,000 white), Mexico (16,950 HRW, 51,602 SRW), Egypt (60,000 SRW), and Israel (57,260 HRW).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 28.58 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 22 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 21 percent of exports committed by this date.
