According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through October 1, 2015 were 11.4 million metric tons (MMT), 18 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 13.9 MMT.

Net sales of 288,200 MT for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were up noticeably from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average and within trade expectations of 175,000 to 375,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Thailand (8,132 HRW, 21,739 HRS, 22,194 white, 5,500 durum), South Korea (6,700 HRW, 5,800 HRS, 40,750 white), the Philippines (34,800 HRS, 1,877 white), Japan (420 HRW, 28,306 HRS, 309 white), Mexico (10,707 HRW, 11,158 HRS), and Guatemala (11,800 HRW, 4,200 HRS, 5,520 white).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 24.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 47 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 57 percent.
