According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through June 16, 2016 were 6.99 million metric tons (MMT), 28 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 5.48 MMT.

Net sales of 462,700 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17, were within trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (73,200 HRS, 51,226 white), Venezuela (30,000 HRW, 60,000 HRS), Indonesia (71,500 white), Colombia (49,812 HRW, -6,500 SRW, 16,500 white), Nigeria (55,100 HRW), Japan (11,590 HRW, 27,928 HRS, 15,079 white), and South Africa (48,374 HRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 24.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 29 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 28 percent.
