According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through June 23, 2016 were 7.64 million metric tons (MMT), 31 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 5.85 MMT.

Net sales of 645,300 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17, were above trade expectations of 300,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the South Korea (27,400 HRW, 37,200 HRS, -8 SRW, 52,032 white), Colombia (62,830 HRW, 20,000 SRW), Indonesia (55,000 HRW, 13,000 white), Venezuela (6,150 HRW, 54,900 HRS), the Philippines (3,000 HRW, 41,943 HRS, 15,600 white), Japan (22,891 HRW, 29,075 HRS, 7,272 white), and Taiwan (23,698 HRW, 31,872 HRS).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 24.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 31 percent of total projected exports, ahead of the 5-year average of 30 percent.
