According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2009/10 marketing year, through June 25, 2009, were 4.365 million metric tons (MMT), 53 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 9.249 MMT.
Net sales of 241,900 metric tons were down 34 percent from the previous week. Increases reported for Mexico (32,578 HRW, 19,590 HRS, 4,316 SRW), Nigeria (29,000 HRW, 12,000 durum), Philippines (16,000 HRS, 16,500 white), Ecuador (11,000 HRW, 21,000 SRW), Israel (29,041 HRW), Italy (19,035 durum), and Canada (15,825 HRS).
USDA forecasts 2009/10 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 24.490 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 18 percent of total projected exports, down from the 5-year average of 25 percent of exports committed by this date.
