According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through June 30, 2011 were 8.724 million metric tons (MMT), 29 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 6.785 MMT.
Net sales of 424,200 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year below trade expectations of 450,000 to 650,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Iraq (100,000 HRW), the Philippines (9,000 HRW, 49,700 HRS, 34,000 white), Mexico (21,000 HRW, 2,204 HRS, 21,368 SRW, 20,412 white), Nigeria (55,890 HRW, 10,000 SRW, -10,000 white, 9,000 durum), China (35,000 HRS, 20,000 white), South Africa (33,797 HRW), and Colombia (30,759 HRW, -181 HRS, 1,907 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 28.58 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 25 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 24 percent of exports committed by this date.
