According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through January 9, 2014 were 24.9 million metric tons (MMT), 25 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 19.8 MMT.

Net sales of 319,900 MT for delivery during the 2013/2014 marketing year were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 20 percent from the prior 4-week average and below trade expectations of 350,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Venezuela (52,250 HRW, 79,450 HRS), Mexico (35,321 HRW, 25,725 SRW), China (57,750 HRS, 1,048 SRW), South Korea (2,520 HRW, 12,640 HRS, 14,540 white), and Thailand (5,559 HRW, 7,701 HRS, 12,629 white).

USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 30.6 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 81 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 78 percent of exports committed by this date.
