According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through January 14, 2016 were 16.4 million metric tons (MMT), 15 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 19.4 MMT.

Net sales of 362,000 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were up 32 percent from the previous week, and 33 percent from the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 200,000 to 400,000 MT. Increases were primarily Mexico (59,020 HRW, 11,025 HRS, 30,096 SRW), Japan (1,571 HRW, 50,689 white, 300 durum), the Philippines (40,067 HRS, 10,000 white), Guatemala (22,099 HRW, 11,200 HRS, 9,580 white, 4,500 durum), Taiwan (12,800 HRW, 27,600 HRS), South Korea (-920 HRW, 5,210 HRS, 1,200 SRW, 29,420 white), and Honduras (17,049 HRS, 6,159 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.8 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 76 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 81 percent.
