According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through May 5, 2016 were 20.4 million metric tons (MMT), 12 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 23.2 MMT.

Net sales of 294,900 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were up 65 percent from the previous week, and 24 percent higher than the prior 4-week average. Sales were well above trade expectations of 50,000 to 175,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Yemen (53,520 white), Nigeria (39,859 HRW, 2,310 SRW), Venezuela (30,000 HRS), Brazil (28,500 HRW), and Spain (13,940 HRS).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 96 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 104 percent.
