According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through July 18, 2013 were 12.3 million metric tons (MMT), 46 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 8.40 MMT.
Net sales of 661,400 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were above trade expectations of 400,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for China (177,890 SRW, 10,000 white), Nigeria (105,846 HRW, 16,484 SRW), the Philippines (640 HRW, 45,128 HRS, 19,000 white), Mexico (17,469 HRW, 1,129 HRS, 45,667 SRW), and Jamaica (3,128 HRS, 33,543 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.3 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 42 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 32 percent of exports committed by this date.
