According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through October 19, 2017 were 15.2 million metric tons (MMT), 6 percent behind last year's year-to-date total and 4 percent behind the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 360,600 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, down 41 percent from the previous week and 16 percent below the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (21,695 HRW, 88,201 HRS, 27,462 white), the Philippines (31,000 HRS, 30,757 white), Unknown Destinations (50,000 HRW, 10,000 HRS, -37,500 SRW, 36,200 white, 1,500 durum), Vietnam (28,357 white), and Panama (5,600 HRW, 11,646 HRS, 5,787 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 57 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 62 percent.
