According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through June 9, 2011 were 7.094 million metric tons (MMT), 38 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 5.133 MMT.
Net sales of 455,500 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year were primarily for Japan (24,967 HRW, 91,365 HRS, 42,981 white), Nigeria (49,000 HRW, 25,000 SRW), Taiwan (7,700 HRW, 51,450 HRS, 750 SRW, 13,850 white), Egypt (57,750 HRW), Mexico (17,957 HRW, -3,411 HRS, 33,429 SRW, -7,050 white), Brazil (27,000 SRW), and Tunisia (23,100 durum).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 28.58 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 20 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 19 percent of exports committed by this date.
