According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through January 21, 2016 were 16.7 million metric tons (MMT), 16 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 19.9 MMT.

Net sales of 294,200 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were down 19 percent from the previous week, but up 9 percent from the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 250,000 to 400,000 MT. Increases were primarily Japan (69,256 HRW, 71,287 HRS, 13,049 white), Indonesia (83 HRW, 50,000 HRS, 10,000 white), South Korea (9,000 HRW, 29,700 HRS, 2,000 SRW, 12,600 white), Mexico (44,724 HRW, 5,075 HRS, -215 SRW), Nigeria (47,816 SRW), Vietnam (2,000 SRW, 11,737 white), Costa Rica (3,700 HRW, 8,935 HRS), and Chile (11,050 HRS).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.8 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 77 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 83 percent.
