According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2010/11 marketing year, through August 12, 2010 were 11.982 million metric tons (MMT), 56 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 7.680 MMT.
Net sales 1,412,500 MT for the 2010/11 marketing year were up 6 percent from the previous week and exceeded trade estimates of 950,000 to 1,250,000 MT. Increases were reported for Egypt (474,000 HRW, 120,000 HRS), Canada (275,000 HRS, 210 white), Mexico (159,964 HRW, 6,000 HRS, 7,949 SRW), Italy (20,000 HRS, 79,000 durum), Japan (36,686 HRW, 4,654 HRS, 34,628 white), and Yemen (50,000 HRW, 25,000 white).
USDA forecasts 2010/11 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 32.66 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 40 percent of total projected exports, equal to the five-year average of exports committed by this date.
