According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2012/13 marketing year, through January 3, 2013 were 19.3 million metric tons (MMT), 3 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 20.0 MMT.
Net sales of 233,700 MT for the 2012/2013 marketing year were down 42 percent from the previous week and 64 percent from the prior 4-week average, and below trade estimates of 325,000 to 425,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Thailand (8,500 HRW, 21,000 HRS, 22,500 white), Philippines (32,885 HRS, 16,985 white), Nigeria (15,612 HRW, 2,200 HRS, 13,000 white), Vietnam (9,551 HRS, 21,125 white), and Peru (25,000 HRW).
USDA forecasts 2012/13 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 28.6 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 68 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 81 percent of exports committed by this date.
