According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through August 22, 2013 were 15.2 million metric tons (MMT), 39 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 10.9 MMT.
Net sales of 551,300 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were up 12 percent from the previous week, but down 4 percent from the prior 4-week average, and above trade expectations of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Mexico (75,986 HRW, 54,413 SRW), Japan (63,619 HRW, 34,185 white), Brazil (500 SRW), Indonesia (66,000 white), Yemen (55,000 white), and Peru (33,100 HRW, 5,406 white).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 51 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 44 percent of exports committed by this date.
