According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through August 31, 2017 were 12.5 million metric tons (MMT), in line with last year's year-to-date total but 1 percent behind the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 375,500 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, down 30 percent from the previous week and 26 percent below the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 350,000 to 550,000 MT. Increases were primarily for South Korea (18,120 HRW, 24,640 HRS, 32,789 white), Nigeria (70,500 HRW), Japan (303 HRW, 68,674 HRS, 523 white), the Philippines (24,000 HRS, 38,600 white), and China (60,000 HRS).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 47 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 49 percent.
