According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through August 10, 2017 were 11.2 million metric tons (MMT), on par with last year's year-to-date total and 1 percent behind the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 633,600 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, up 37 percent from the previous week and 43 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were above trade expectations of 300,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Thailand (20,500 HRW, 51,000 HRS, 38,600 white), Indonesia (65,000 HRW, 25,000 HRS), Mexico (88,135 HRW, 1,738 SRW), Nigeria (43,041 HRW, 33,000 SRW), and Japan (16,004 HRW, 61,297 HRS, -4,676 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 42 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 44 percent.
