According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2010/11 marketing year, through December 30, 2010, were 26.051million metric tons (MMT), 62 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 16.052 MMT.
Net sales of 464,700 MT for the 2010/11 marketing year were up 9 percent from the previous week, but down 22 percent from the prior 4-week average, but exceeded trade estimates of 350,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were reported for Nigeria (70,919 HRW), Oman (61,596 HRW), Iraq (55,705 HRW, 1,229 HRS), Turkey (50,000 HRS), Yemen (50,000 white), and unknown destinations (-55,000 HRW, 50,000 HRS, 55,000 white).
USDA forecasts 2010/11 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 34.02 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 77 percent of total projected exports, down from the five-year average of 81 percent of exports committed by this date.
