According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2016/17 marketing year, through July 28, 2016 were 10.1 million metric tons (MMT), 18 percent higher than last year's year-to-date total of 8.52 MMT.

Net sales of 326,500 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2016/17 were down 36 percent from the previous week, and 39 percent lower than the prior 4-week average. Sales were slightly below trade expectations of 350,000 to 650,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Nigeria (100,000 HRW, 16,000 HRS, 32,032 SRW), Guatemala (22,865 HRW, 11,000 HRS, 4,240 SRW), South Korea (6,999 HRW, 22,189 HRS), the Philippines (600 HRW, 34,397 HRS), Brazil (25,000 HRW), and Chile (15,162 HRW, 254 HRS, 3,780 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2016/17 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 40 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 41 percent.
