According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through September 7, 2017 were 12.8 million metric tons (MMT), slightly behind last year's year-to-date total and 2 percent behind the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 316,700 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, down 16 percent from the previous week and 34 percent below the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 300,000 to 600,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Colombia (35,925 HRW, 29,846 SRW), Turkey (50,000 HRW), Dominican Republic (17,500 HRW, 11,600 HRS, 10,900 SRW), and Italy (25,000 durum).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 48 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 51 percent.
