According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through September 28, 2017 were 14.0 million metric tons (MMT), 3 percent behind both last year's year-to-date total and the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 492,300 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, up 13 percent from the previous week and 37 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for the Philippines (33,000 HRS, 54,826 white), China (2,600 HRW, 65,455 HRS), Japan (35,259 HRW, 26,041 HRS, 507 white), Taiwan (755 HRW, 32,246 HRS, -17 SRW, 274 white), and the United Arab Emirates (30,000 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 53 percent of total projected exports, slightly behind the 5-year average of 57 percent.
