According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through December 31, 2015 were 15.8 million metric tons (MMT), 15 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 18.6 MMT.

Net sales of 76,500 metric tons (MT) for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 a marketing year low were well below trade expectations of 200,000 to 400,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (32,112 HRW, -226 HRS, 33,360 white), China (55,000 HRS), the Philippines (28,600 HRS, 2,400 white), the Dominican Republic (10,000 HRW, 500 HRS, 1,329 SRW), Peru (5,000 HRW, 5,000 white), and Brazil (10,000 SRW).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.8 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 73 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 78 percent.
