According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through January 23, 2014 were 26.1 million metric tons (MMT), 26 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 20.7 MMT.

Net sales of 794,900 MT for delivery during the 2013/2014 marketing year were up 89 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average and above trade expectations of 300,000 to 500,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Japan (34,567 HRW, 53,210 HRS, 87,016 white), South Korea (9,700 HRW, 20,000 HRS, 350 SRW, 132,300 white), Nigeria (59,375 HRW, 66,290 SRW), the Philippines (81,000 HRS, 17,000 white), and Taiwan (23,904 HRW, 38,910 HRS, 11,163 white).

USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 30.6 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 83 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 81 percent of exports committed by this date.
