According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2011/12 marketing year, through June 23, 2011 were 8.300 million metric tons (MMT), 32 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 6.272 MMT.
Net sales of 545,100 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year were slightly below trade expectations of 550,000 to 750,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (50,000 HRW, 25,260 SRW), China (60,502 SRW), Iraq (50,000 HRW), Nigeria (34,915 HRW, 10,400 SRW, 2,830 durum), the Philippines (20,000 HRS, 25,000 white), unknown destinations (25,000 HRW, -5,000 SRW, 25,000 white), and Chile (20,020 HRW, 20,483 white).
USDA forecasts 2011/12 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 28.58 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 24 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 23 percent of exports committed by this date.
