According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2015/16 marketing year, through January 28, 2016 were 16.8 million metric tons (MMT), 17 percent lower than last year's year-to-date total of 20.3 MMT.

Net sales of 66,200 metric tons (MT) --a marketing-year low--for delivery in marketing year 2015/16 were down 78 percent from the previous week and 74 percent from the prior 4-week average. Sales were below trade expectations of 200,000 to 400,000 MT. Increases were primarily Yemen (32,000 white), Mexico (52 HRW, 14,000 HRS, 154 SRW), Trinidad and Tobago (3,600 HRS, 3,900 SRW), El Salvador (6,000 HRS), Liberia (6,000 HRW), and South Korea (1,000 HRW, 1,000 HRS, -2 SRW, 2,245 white).

USDA forecasts 2015/16 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 21.8 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 78 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 85 percent.
