According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through April 5, 2018 were 23.0 million metric tons (MMT), 15 percent behind last year's year-to-date total of 27.2 MMT.

Net sales of 120,700 metric tons for delivery in marketing year 2017/2018 were up 11 percent from the previous week but still 46 percent below the prior 4-week average. Sales were within trade expectations of 100,000 to 300,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Mexico (51,670 HRW, 2,769 SRW), Vietnam (-72 HRW, 17,600 HRS, 30,800 white), Japan (18,775 HRW, 340 HRS, 16,534 white), Brazil (16,500 SRW), and Malaysia (12,427 HRS, 3,300 white).

Net sales of 68,000 MT were reported for delivery in marketing year 2018/19. Increases were primarily for Honduras (4,000 HRW, 25,000 HRS, 21,200 SRW), Mexico (74,267 HRW, 9,899 HRS, 112,794 SRW, 15,950 white), and Thailand (19,000 HRS).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 25.2 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 92 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 101 percent.
