According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2017/18 marketing year, through August 3, 2017 were 10.5 million metric tons (MMT), 2 percent behind last year's year-to-date total of 10.7 MMT and 3 percent behind the 5-year average pace.

Net sales of 464,300 metric tons (MT) were reported for delivery in marketing year 2017/18, up noticeably from the previous week and 11 percent above the prior 4-week average. Sales were above trade expectations of 250,000 to 450,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Indonesia (70,000 HRW, 45,000 HRS), South Korea (-11,700 HRW, 34,950 HRS, 46,750 white), Algeria (58,000 HRW), the Philippines (5,499 HRW, 27,500 HRS, 18,500 white), and Chile (29,250 HRW, 16,250 white).

USDA forecasts 2017/18 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 26.5 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 40 percent of total projected exports, behind the 5-year average of 42 percent.
