According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's weekly Export Sales Report, total known outstanding sales and accumulated exports of all classes of wheat for the 2013/14 marketing year, through September 5, 2013 were 16.4 million metric tons (MMT), 38 percent greater than last year's year-to-date total of 11.9 MMT.
Net sales of 543,900 MT for delivery in the 2013/2014 marketing year were down 19 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average, and within trade expectations of 450,000 to 650,000 MT. Increases were primarily for Brazil (9,226 SRW), The Philippines (9,000 HRW, 60,272 white), Nigeria (92,500 HRW, 5,000 SRW), South Korea (10,300 HRW, 23,528 white), Chile (19,800 white), and Mexico (-5,883 HRW, 39,878 SRW).
USDA forecasts 2013/14 U.S. wheat exports (including donations) to reach 29.9 MMT. Commitments to date (of wheat and wheat products) are 55 percent of total projected exports, up from the five-year average of 48 percent of exports committed by this date.
